travel europe germany bavaria dachau dachau memorial

Dachau Concentration Camp, 1933, was the first of the Nazi camps opened in Germany.
The site is now an antiseptic "park" version of the camp with grasslands and a couple clean sample housing units.
The horrors of the Crematorium are little evident in the clean oven room.
I have visited the site twice, once a long time ago, and now, again, in 2017.
On the first visit, I went through the "museum" and took in all the horrible photos.
This last trip, we were travelling with our grandkids and skipped the graphics.
Visiting Dachau is not an enjoyable occasion, but an important lesson in history.
